New Years Eve 2018
Borough Wines, Beers and Books,

DJ’s JAPHY & ZEROH
For this years New Years Eve party, ‘No Fit State’, we’re going underground with the warmest sound system and best stocked bar in town. Join us, hosts; Michael, Jess and DJ Japhy at Borough Wines from 9pm-3am where you’ll be served the finest ingredients for drinking and dancing in town over both floors of the multi-functional venue.
In it’s short time Borough Wines has seen some global legends through it’s doors, Andrew Weatherall hanging out at the first Weird Shit , Krautrock originators ‘Faust’ performing, former DMC champion ‘Mr.Thing’ playing an NYC photo exhibition opening, Steven Rutter aka ‘B12’ doing a Saturday afternoon gig. The space is also often a hairdressers, a pop up clothes shop and a monthly supper club but this New Years we’re turning the shop into a club.
Musically, if you came to our WESTWARD party in the summer or any of the last 3 sellout NYE’s at The Printworks you’ll know to expect the deeper shades of rare, underground dance music; open minded disco, not disco, house, techno: old and new.
As always the space will change at the stroke of midnight in tone and colour bringing in the new year in dramatic style. To add a bit of new New Years fun we’ll be using BLACKLIGHT, they’ll be some make up on hand or wear something reactive to be part of it. Last entrance is 11pm when the shutters come down with an exit from downstairs.
So if you fancy a cathartic boogie on a discerning dance floor with the atmosphere of the best private party in town we look forward to seeing you in the basement on an odyssey into NO FIT STATE.

NEW FEARS EVE 2017
Join us for our 3rd New Years Eve event and party number 7 at The Printworks, Hastings. After two sell out NYE parties that followed similar lines we thought we’d stir things up this time. After what has been a tough year for many, on a personal and global level, we figured a party at such a time should be a bit more punk in attitude have an air of fuck it and raise above it all with a sense of optimism. So the club will be transformed as never before as the backdrop for the guests we’ve invited to join us in making this a fitting end to 2017 and an invigorating start for 2018.
Optimism as cultural rebellion
(Matthew stone, Artist and Shaman)
Dj’s Jo Perfect and Japhy Turner both local legends in terms of taste and skill will help us soundtrack your evening, taking in a whole manner of styles, keeping it dance floor focused for a night of cathartic dancing.
Jo was resident at London’s legendary SonicMookExperiement and will be welcoming u in, warming u up and weirding u out in the bar from 8pm with a heady mix of northern soul/ psych/ rock/ funk/ blues/ punk.
At the strike of 10pm the upstairs dance floor awakens with us (ZEROH) counting down to midnight with underground disco/ and a variety of house styles etc featuring a specially commissioned and unique performance by ‘Weird Shit’s’ Good For Nothing Poet, on the beat, bridging the years with a reflective and rousing message for the new year.
Then we get deep and mutant through to 3am with respected crate digger Japhy, having spent his formative years behind the counter at legendary brighton record store Covert, fresh from a recent gig at Corisca Studios, he’s mostly found under a pile of vinyl in his Hastings warehouse where he has amassed an almighty collection of the finest and rarest underground dance music around to set the pace for the year ahead with a soundtrack of addictive house/ electro and techno.
Party for an open mind and the principles of freedom of expression.
They’ll be the usual ceremonials at midnight and a complimentary drink for all.
Tickets are £15 +booking fee and available through eventbrite this year.
Seeing as though it’s been a while since our last party we thought it’s about time we held another and always wanting to find an excuse we thought we’d make it a special one, with a purpose, and hold it on the Bank Holiday Sunday as Hastings celebrates its first Pride. It’ll be a stripped back affair as we want as much of the door to go to the charity Rainbow Road as possible. So it’s just us upstairs at The Printworks, some records, a little smoke and some lights for 7 hours of dancing to feel good disco, boogie and house music from 8pm.
It’s 2017 and homosexuality is still illegal in 72 countries, 8 UN member states carry the death penalty for same-sex activity. Chechnya is encouraging its citizens to wipe out the gay population of the country by any means. It’s 50 years since the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in England. In acknowledgement of Hastings first Pride we present an independent event fundraising for global support for all those who still live in fear as we live with the privilege to celebrate Pride.
All profits from this event will go to Rainbow Railroad
Rainbow Railroad is a registered charitable organization that provides support to LGBTQ individuals seeking a safe haven from state-sponsored or enabled violence. This includes airfare and financial support for travel related costs, including costs immediately before and after travel. Beyond direct financial assistance, Rainbow Railroad provides information and resources on how to make an asylum claim directly in safer countries or through the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) resettlement process. Specifically Rainbow Railroad are the only global organisation assisting those fleeing Chechnya at this time.

…So let’s do ‘SOMETHING ELSE’…
HELLOWEEN was another great sell out party, capacity got to one in one out by midnight and late night guest Japhy Turner went down a storm with a grave yard shift set of disco – tech and acid. Being Halloween we spotted Charlie Chaplin, Napoleon, a couple of Carries and a Baby Spice in the crowd, alongside a fair few masked dancers on the dance floor.
Here’s some pictures of the dance floor and the decor on the night which featured a super slow edit of the shower scene from Psycho in a shower curtain tunnel and 4ft masks hanging on the walls and from the ceiling.

With summer in sight it’s time for the third in a series of parties ZEROH are holding at The Printworks in celebration of the seasons. Following on from last times ‘Lost Hour’ @SpringForward, this time around it’s a specially extended event in recognition of (almost) the longest day of the year inviting you to a long night of dancing till sun rise.
The Printworks bar opens at 8PM with special warm up sets from two of the finest purveyors of sounds in town. Two ladies with long established careers in music in all it’s forms, Neotropic and Grande Dame.
Riz Maslen (Neotropic) first came to prominence as part of Future Sound of London, providing vocals for the uk dance classic “Papua New Guinea”, now regarded as an electronic music pioneer, Riz has released music on Ninja Tunes, R&S, Oxygen Music Works and currently Pxnk Lxzrd records.
Acid Queen Tiff McGinnis (Grande Dame) played an imcomparible psyche/ beats and way out sounds set during the ‘Lost Hour’ at Spring Forward, Raw Funk rarities, Skate Jams and Low Slung Hip Hop, so we’ve asked her back to give you more.
From 11PM upstairs the decorated dance floor opens for a loft style party with ZEROH playing an eclectic mix of classic and underground dance music in many forms till dawn. BALEARIC • DISCO • AFRO • ACID • HOUSE • ETC Just make sure you’re wearing you dancing shoes.

With just over a week to go ADVANCED TICKETS are now on sale and it will be more on the door which closes at midnight for ‘The Lost Hour’ when everything will change. The music will take on a more freaked out sound courtesy of the inimitable Tiff McGinnis aka Grande Dame who has worked with many influential producers and musicians over the years and has made music under the names Chantilly (with producer/ DJ Maurice Fulton), Crazy Girl (on Tummy Touch Records) and of course under her current nom de plume Grande Dame. So aside from our mix of dance music in various forms old and new, for which we’re digging a little deeper this time, Grande Dame will also be treating us to an hour of Psyche & Beats & Way Out Sounds. The dance floor will also visually transform for ‘The Lost Hour’ to fantastically take you out of the Winter into the Spring. BEST WISHES FOR 2016
This New Years Eve Party is the first to happen in the newly opened The PrintWorks, America Ground, Hastings and we’ve asked to collaborate with the club on what will also be the 15th Anniversary of us starting ZEROH.
The top floor of the long awaited venue, if you’re not yet familiar, is basically one huge dance floor, with a great sound system and tall ceiling, it’s got a New York loft/ warehouse feel about it and so we want to invite you to come shake off the last year and dance in the new in that atmosphere .
This party isn’t just about NYE it is also about going back to where and how we first started – Djing and throwing parties in the North East in our University days and then in London and Brighton when we moved to the South Coast. During 15 years we had Saturday night residencies at The Zap, The Escape and The Ocean Rooms in Brighton and Scaramanga @ The Dogstar, Brixton and The Back Bar in Soho. We also played numerous bars, parties, wrote about clubs, record reviews and had charts in DJ mag, Mixmag and Muzik, worked in independent record stores and put on our own club nights, for the last of which, in 2003, we had DJ Harvey as a resident, done, mostly, under the name ‘Aitch’.
If you’ve been to one of our events before you’ll know we try and create a complete experience in terms of the audio and visual but you may not have heard us play music before. As Dj’s, we play pretty much across the board, for us this party is all about rhythm, grooves and atmosphere. We’ll be playing vinyl all night long back to back, making subtle embellishments to the environment but the emphasis is on the dance floor and giving you the space to let go and loose yourself in the music. We want to have you starting 2016 with a smile on your face, bring back some dance floor memories and create new ones. Dress up to get down.
